XENOCORP SOUNDS V3.1, Ambients Readme.

GENERAL:
-------

XenoCorp Ambients Mod V3.1

NOTE: Except for the ones marked with an asterisk (*), all the others were downloaded and reformatted from 
StarFleet Universe. Credit must go to those who originally converted these sounds into a .wav format.


I have play tested the ambients on the following machine:

AMD 1.133Ghz Athlon Thunderbird Processor, Gigabyte 7GTX, 256 MB DDR Ram (PC2100), SoundBlaster Live! in EAX mode and Legacy mode, VisionTek Geforce2 Ultra 64 MB.


INSTALLATION:
------------

** NOTE ** It is highly recommended you make back ups of the original Zip file SFCSounds.Zip in the \Assets\Sounds folder. I don't care how you do it, just DO IT ! 

If you really screw up and don't you can download the entire file(s) from our SCI & GSCI File Utility Library, but unless you've got one heckuva connect, it'll take about a year. Go to www.xenocorp.net for the files.

** ALSO - If you are not patched to 2.0.0.4 or better, the ambients will not work correctly. They are included in a separate folder with this edition. Refer to XenoCorp.net for these files available for individual download, along with the patch to update from 2.0.0.2 to 2.0.0.6.

** THE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS ARE FOR WINZIP Ver.7 OR HIGHER. (get it at www.winzip.com)

To install the sounds, 

NOTE : You must remove the "Read Only" attributes from the SFCsounds.zip before adding the wavs.

1. Unzip the entire contents onto your desktop, or your default unzip folder.
2. Go to the folder you just unzipped the sounds into, click "Edit", then "Select All"
3. Right click on the now highlighted files, and select "Copy".
4. Now go to the \Assets\Sounds folder in the directory you installed SFC2 in, and right click on the file SFCSounds.zip.
5. Right click on the now highlighted SFCSounds.zip, and select paste.
6. Winzip will appear, and ask you how you want to add the files. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU SELECT *NONE* FOR THE COMPRESSION TYPE. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE SOUNDS_WILL_NOT_WORK_!

AMBIENTS: 

*** Only install these if you have the 2.0.0.4 patch installed that fixes the engine ambience. Wouldn't install in the SFC2 release 2.02, as they don't work well being played only when the music isn't. The files listed here are NOT included in the .zip release as of now, but are available for individual download. SEE ABOVE !

(NOTE: If you are going to use the Ambience sounds, you need to reduce the volume slider in SFC1 for the music to zero.)

Federation Ambients : 
Folder : TOS : File : ambfed.wav* Fed Ambient sound - This is from ST-TOS - Classic Trek Score.
Folder : ST II - File : ambfed.wav : Score from ST II, TWOK - excellent score to play by.
Folder : ST II Enterprise Theme - File : ambfed.wav : "Enterprise" score from ST II, TWOF. 
Folder : STIII - File : amdfed.wav : Score from STIII, TSFS.
Folder : STVI - File : ambfed.wav : Opening Score from STIV, TUC. Very militant march score.

Klingon Ambients : 
Folder : ST I Full - file ambkli.wav :  Full score of the Klingon attack against VGer in ST I, TMP.
Folder : ST I Short - file : ambkli.wav : Shortened score of the Klingon attack against VGer in ST I, TMP.

Borg Ambients :
Folder : Complex - File : AMBhyd.wav : Complex background noises from various canon sources.
Folder : Simple - File : AMBhyd.wav : More simple background noises from various canon sources.

NOTE : To use another race for playing the Borg, simple rename the file to the race in the format indicated, ie. to play ISC using Borg ambients and taunts : rename the ambient to "AMBisc.wav" and then use the included source file for naming conventions in the taunts package.
